Itinerary

Day 1:

Daily Mileage Options: 9, 27
Cyclists meet in Falmouth and then bike along the Shining Sea Bikeway to Woods Hole. This route was the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad route from Buzzards Bay, through North and West Falmouth, around Woods Hole and into Falmouth Station. This railroad right-of-way provides a flat and even surface for biking, and it is the only path that winds along the seashore through cranberry bogs, salt marshes, woodlands and a busy harbor.
Meals: Dinner

Day 2:

Daily Mileage Options: 22, 32
First thing in the morning we board the Island Queen for a scenic ride across the Vineyard Sound to the beautiful island of Martha's Vineyard. Sightings of sea turtles and sea birds are possible, so keep a sharp eye. The island now known as Martha’s Vineyard, vacation spot for wealthy New Englanders, was once the territory of the Wampanoag Indians. As European settlers discovered the island, a busy whaling
industry developed. In more modern times, Martha’s Vineyard was the filming location for Jaws, Jaws 2 and Jaws: The Revenge. With a year-round population of almost 15,000, the island’s main industry now is tourism and businesses associated with the tourism industry. On Martha’s Vineyard, cyclists will have a choice of cycling on bike paths or the island’s well-paved roads. At day’s end we ferry back to Falmouth
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 3:

Daily Mileage Options: 24, 35
Our tour continues along the coast, biking on roads with very little traffic through Mara Vista, Menauhant, New Seabury, Osterville and finally to the historic seaport of Hyannis. Originally farming, shipbuilding and reclaiming salt from the sea supported this seaside town, but Hyannis went on to develop into a popular resort destination. Most famous in modern times as home to the Kennedy clan, Hyannis developed on the south shore of
the Cape Cod peninsula that juts into the ocean approximately 100 miles, much of which is beautiful, public beaches.
Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 4:

Daily Mileage Options: 22 and 41
Departing Hyannis, the group will bike the Cape Cod Rail Trail (CCRT), which runs for 22 miles from Dennis to Wellfleet. This paved bike trail winds through the countryside of the cape to lead us to Brewster. Developed in another railroad right-of-way, the CCRT has a paved surface for bikers; the trail is well marked and smooth. During the trip, the bike tour will pass several freshwater ponds, cranberry bogs and scenic views. Little country stores along the way give cyclists plenty of opportunity to grab drinks and snacks.
Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

Day 5:

Daily Mileage Options: 21 and 40
Biking on the CCRT until it ends in South Wellfleet, we will bike through Wellfleet, getting great views of the Cape Cod Bay along the way, and continue to Provincetown. Our paths lead us past Nauset Light Beach, the historic Coast Guard Beach and Highland (Cape Cod) Lighthouse. After some sightseeing or shopping in Provincetown, bikers will van back to our lodgings.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and Dinner

Day 6:

We will start our last day with a delicious breakfast at our lodgings. After breakfast we will shuttle all guests to Falmouth where we will say our farewells as our adventure comes to a close. For guest traveling by air, the shuttle will continue from Falmouth to Boston Logan Airport.
Meals: Breakfast
