Tag 1:Montpetier to Afton

Nach dem Zusammentreffen in Idaho Falls/Idaho fahren wir mit dem Tourbus in das 145 Meilen entfernte Oregon Nature Center in Montpelier. Hier werden wir zu Mittag essen und Instruktionen zur Reise erhalten, bevor wir uns auf die Räder schwingen. Unsere Tour durch den Wilden Westen kann starten. Wir radeln in das wunderschöne Star Valley bei Afton im Bundesstaat Wyoming. Das Tal beeindruckt mit seiner großartigen Tierwelt und spektakulären Landschaftsbildern.

Tag 2: Afton to Jackson, Snake river

Heute radeln wir weiter durch das malerische Star Valley, um zum Palisades Reservoir zu gelangen, wo der Snake River aufgestaut wird. Der Fluss bestimmt in weiten Teilen das Landschaftsbild von Idaho. Die Quelle liegt hoch in den Rocky Mountains im Yellowstone Nationalpark, dann bahnt sich das Wasser seinen Weg durch Wyoming urch den Grand-Teton-Nationalpark und fliesst dann nach Westen bogenförmig über 600 km durch Idaho. Auf unserer Fahrt durch unberührte Natur müssen wir kräftig in die Pedalen treten, denn es geht zum Snake River Gorge und hinein in die Berge nach Jackson.

Tag 3: Grand Teton, Jackson to Moran Junction

Wir verlassen Jackson und vor uns breitet sich majestätisch daliegende Teton-Bergkette aus. Der heutige Trip führt uns in den Grand Teton National Park. Unser Tag endet an der östlichen Grenze des Parks in der kleinen Gemeinde Moran Junction.

Tag 4: Grand Teton to Yellowstone

Miles: 50, total ascent: 1981ft, approx total descent 2500 ft.
Vom beschaulichen Moran Junction radeln wir in den Teton Nationalpark in nördlicher Richtung nach Colter Bay Village, das am Ufer des Jackson-Sees liegt. Von hier shutteln wir in den Yellowstone Nationalpark, wo wir wieder auf die Räder steigen. Wir werden gleich zweimal die kontinentale Wasserscheide queren. Außerdem legen wir natürlich eine Pause am Old Faithful Geysir ein. Zurück auf der Straße radeln wir bis Madison Junction. Hier haben wir Gelegenheit zu einem Abstecher nach West Yellowstone, wo wir mit einer fabelhaften Landschaftsszenerie belohnt werden.

Tag 5:Madison Junction to West Thumb.

Heute erwartet uns wieder ein kompletter Radtag, der uns in das Herz des Yellowstone Nationalpark führt. Wir radeln entlang der bunten Artist's Paintpots, Steamboat Geysir (der derzeit größte aktive Geysir der Welt) und Ice Lake zum Yellowstone River. Wir legen einen Halt ein, um die wunderschönen Upper and Lower Wasserfälle vom Canyonrand aus zu bewundern. Wir folgen dem Yellowstone River und halten zum Mittagessen am malerisch gelegenen Yellowstone See. Den Nachmittag verbringen wir mit gemütlichem Radeln am Seeufer, und dann bringt uns unser Tourbus zu unserer Unterkunft für die Nacht.

Tag 6: Teton Pass to Victor

Heute ist unser letzter Tag im Radsattel. Wir starten in der kleinen Gemeinde Wilson, erklimmen den Teton Pass und rollen dann nach Victor. Dieser 25-Meilen-Ritt ist eine sehr beliebte Strecke, denn Sie haben während der gesamten Fahrt überwältigend schöne Ausblicke auf die Teton Berge. Nach dem späten Mittagessen bringt uns der Tourbus zurück nach Idaho Falls. Auf der Fahrt können wir noch einmal die wunderbare Landschaft genießen.

Lodging

We choose well-maintained public campgrounds with scenic vistas and comfortable arrangements. You’ll move seamlessly from one day of your trip to the next, camping outdoors and enjoying wildly healthy, delicious homemade meals.
The majority of our selected campgrounds feature indoor facilities and showers. Conversely, in more remote backcountry camping scenarios, we’ll provide portable toilets and private solar showers.
Camping gear may be rented or you may bring your own. All of our camping gear is tested and hand-chosen from top manufacturers to ensure you get a good night’s sleep. Our camp gear package includes a tent, sleeping pad, raised cot, sleeping bag, sleeping bag liner, full size pillow, and ground tarp. Your Trip Leaders will always help to ensure your equipment is set up properly each night.
