Itinerary

Day 1:

Welcome to your Nova Scotia cycling trip! Meet your Sojourn leaders in Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia, before making your way to the historic town of Annapolis Royal, a National Historic Site of Canada. After a brief bike fitting, set out on an introductory warm-up ride to explore sites and scenes in a town that happens to be steeped in history. Tonight, gather with your group for a welcome reception and dinner.
7 miles, Meals: B, D

Day 2:

Ride past the Annapolis Royal Generating Station, the only tidal generating station in North America. Make your way to the Port-Royal National Historic Site, home to the historic Habitation at Port-Royal. This museum showcases early Acadian life, allowing visitors to step back into the earliest days of French exploration. Ride to Parker’s Cove to witness the tides of the Bay of Fundy, and enjoy a ride along the coastal route to Victoria Beach.
32, 42 miles, Meals: B, D

Day 3:

Today marks the biggest riding day of the tour, as we travel through backcountry farmlands, small towns and villages, farmer’s stands, and iconic Nova Scotian rolled haystacks. Enjoy a delicious lunch in Dempsey Corner Orchard, also known as “The Heart of the Annapolis Valley,” before riding to the town of Wolfville, located on the shores of the stunning Minas Basin. Wolfville is known for its agricultural dykes, which were built by Acadian settlers in the 17th century. Dinner tonight is at the beautiful Tattingstone Inn.
30, 49, 74miles, Meals: B, L, D

Day 4:

After breakfast, cycle past stunning views of the Minas Basin coast and pastoral farmland, passing through berry and apple orchards along the way. Today, we witness the famed dykelands of the Minas Basin. The earthen dyke walls were built in order to prevent sea water from flowing onto the salt marshes, in turn transforming the marshes into fertile farmland. Witness the dramatic changes between low and high tide caused by the dykes from the high cliffs of Blomidon Provincial Park. Blomidon is renowned for its breathtaking views, abundant wildlife, including deer, snowshoe hares, and porcupines, and striking natural features. After a short shuttle to Mahone Bay on the Atlantic coast, enjoy lunch before pedaling into the vibrant town of Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
8, 36 miles, Meals: B, L

Day 5:

Travel past weathered coves, across scenic causeways, and over rustic bridges to the LaHave Islands. Journey through the sleepy seaside villages found here and watch lobster boats bring in their daily hauls. A late afternoon stop for tea and scones at Lahave Bakery is a treat, as this year-round bakery and cafe is considered a 20th-century riverside chandlery landmark. Tonight, join your fellow travelers and toast to your Nova Scotian adventure with a farewell dinner.
23, 40, 46 miles , meals; B, D

Day 6:

This morning we rise early to ride to the lovely fishing village of Blue Rocks, then retrace to Lunenburg for a quick shower and brunch before heading back to Halifax for the end of the tour.
13 miles, Meals; B, L
